REUSABLE AND DISPOSABLE PROTECTIVE MASKS

We promote the use of personalized reusable masks

At Connectad we have all available models and we promote the use of reusable masks, since disposable ones pose a potential danger to our environment. In many places, discarded masks are found due to improper disposal. They have the potential to become a new pollutant like plastic, flooding the oceans and threatening marine life and vegetation. In short, they are a threat to our planet.

We identify two categories:

Disposable masks

These are the traditional masks that became known at the beginning of the pandemic. As Covid-19 evolved, the use of this item went from being optional to mandatory in our daily lives.

Reusable masks

These masks emerged as a response to the mandatory national demand. They help avoid excessive use of disposable products and allow multiple uses of the same item while maintaining protection against the virus. Additionally, they’ve become a new way to promote your brand and show care for your team and clients.

All masks, whether disposable or reusable, fall into three types based on their level of protection:

  • FFP2 Masks – These provide the highest protection (both inward and outward), preventing both the spread and entry of the virus. For disposable masks, they are recommended for medical use only. Reusable masks may have similar protection to an FFP2, but they must be certified and are not intended for medical use.
  • Surgical Masks – Outward protection. Must be certified. Recommended for people who are sick or showing symptoms, as the priority is to prevent the virus from spreading.
  • Hygienic Masks – Also provide outward protection. Authorized by the government to meet high demand. They function similarly to surgical masks but with lower protection levels and without the same certification. Suggested for healthy or asymptomatic individuals.

Even with all the distinctions, there are still many questions about masks.

How do I know if a mask is FFP2, surgical, or hygienic?

In addition to the product details, the mask must be certified. This certification confirms its category and reliability.

What certifications are required for each type?

They must comply with UNE specifications:

  • FFP2: According to standard UNE-EN149
  • Surgical: According to standard UNE-EN14683 type I or II
  • Hygienic: According to specifications UNE 0064 and 0065

Can fabric masks be FFP2 or surgical?

Reusable fabric masks can be FFP2, surgical, or hygienic if the accompanying certificate specifies it.

Which mask do I need?

All masks provide outward protection, but each offers a different level. If you need the highest level of protection or a mask for medical use, choose FFP2. If you have symptoms or are ill, opt for a surgical mask. If you're healthy, you can use a hygienic mask — although you can still choose any of the three. What matters most is your safety and that of those around you.

At Connectad, we offer all available types of masks with a focus on the best quality-price ratio.
